Ask Alissa

Alissa – Interview Q&A
How did you first fall in love with vinyl?

I’ve always been a collector of physical media! Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved collecting CDs — there’s just something so special about holding my favorite albums in my hands. As I got older, I’d always find myself wandering through the vinyl section at Target, admiring all the records. One day, I finally decided to buy one — Lover by Taylor Swift — even though I didn’t have a record player yet. I kept it sealed for a couple of months until I got my first turntable, and little did I know that one record would spark a full-on passion for vinyl… and a collection of over 200! The detail and care that go into physical formats like CDs and vinyl just make them feel so much more meaningful to me.

What’s the story behind your current setup?

It’s crazy to think how much my setup has grown from where it started! There’s not really a strict theme — it’s just a mix of all the things I love that make me happy. From my CD player and rack of favorite albums to my LEGO record player and light-up Wicked movie popcorn lantern, every piece means something to me. I wanted my setup to feel like an extension of myself.

What’s the story of how you got into creating content?

It’s crazy how this all started, because one day I decided to search up vinyl records. That’s when I found a bunch of amazing creators showing off their collections — and I instantly knew it was something I wanted to do too. I’ve always loved editing and making videos ever since I was younger, so it felt like the perfect fit. Whenever I’m filming or editing, I kind of slip into my own little world. It’s something I’ve really grown passionate about.

Do you have a most-prized record in your collection?

I have a couple! I’d say my RSD Wicked movie soundtrack — I love Wicked more than anything, so I feel so lucky to have it in my collection. I’d also pick any of my custom records, since they’re completely designed by me with handpicked track lists. They’re totally unique, which makes them extra special!

What’s your favorite part about being in the vinyl community?

I absolutely love this community! Everyone is so kind and supportive, and it makes me so happy to connect with others who love physical media and vinyl as much as I do.

Spinning What I’ve Seen Live

Alissa – Live Shows
Taylor Swift – Fearless Tour
May 19, 2009 – KeyArena, Seattle, WA
I’m a true Swiftie at heart. I’ve been listening to Taylor ever since Debut came out, and her music has been the soundtrack to so many chapters of my life. My very first concert was when she came to my city for the Fearless Tour — and getting to see her again years later felt like a full-circle moment.
Wicked (Broadway Musical)
2012, 2015, 2024 – Paramount Theatre, Seattle, WA
I still remember the first time I saw Wicked when I was little — I was completely mesmerized. It felt like stepping into another world, one filled with magic, music, and emotion I could actually feel in my chest. It’s been a constant in my life ever since. I’ve seen it three times at my local theater in Seattle, and each time feels just as magical as the first. I have the Broadway cast recording and several vinyl editions from the movie, and I spin them constantly!
Taylor Swift – The Eras Tour
July 22, 2023 – Lumen Field, Seattle, WA
Getting to see Taylor again on The Eras Tour felt like a full-circle moment. Hearing live the songs I grew up with and still love as an adult was such an incredible, nostalgic experience I’ll never forget. I have every era on vinyl and spin them all depending on which era I’m in at the time!
Joshua Bassett
March 10, 2023 – Neptune Theatre, Seattle, WA
Joshua Bassett is one of my favorite artists. The way he performs on stage is truly captivating — there’s this warmth and sincerity in everything he does. He makes every single person in the crowd feel seen, loved, and safe. I spin his EP Sad Songs in a Hotel Room and a custom vinyl I made for The Golden Years all the time!
Joshua Bassett
September 1, 2024 – Cal Coast Credit Union Amphitheater, San Diego, CA
Seeing Joshua again just reaffirmed how special his shows are. He has this incredible ability to connect with people through his lyrics and stage presence. His performances always leave me feeling hopeful and inspired.
Sabrina Carpenter
November 6, 2024 – Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle, WA
Seeing Sabrina live was such an amazing experience! She puts so much heart and effort into everything she does — especially her shows. It made me appreciate her music, and even listening to her vinyls, so much more.
Kelsea Ballerini
March 13, 2025 – Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle, WA
I’ve wanted to see Kelsea live for so long, and I’m so happy I finally got the chance this year! She sounds absolutely incredible — one of those rare artists who sounds just as good live as she does on the radio. I have so many of her albums on vinyl, and I spin them all the time!
